A quick field guide

One server.
A shared place.

The live world stays inside Discord. This companion site explains Moot and will become a home for discovering creations.

This guide describes the current private test build. Ask your test coordinator for access; there is no public install flow yet.

Get comfortable in the world.

  1. Open the ActivityExisting testers launch Moot from the server’s office text channel and keep it open while using voice rooms.
  2. Move aroundClick the floor or use WASD/arrow keys. Double-click a chair or desk to approach and sit. Stand releases your seat. Double-click a portal to approach and travel.
  3. Choose your conversationUse Discord’s native controls, or choose Join voice in Moot. Walking, sitting and portal travel do not change the call. Discord controls mute, camera and video.
  4. Make it yoursCharacter combines appearance, clothing, accessories and asset design. Library opens the shared design bank. Authorized editors use Build to shape spaces and review art.

Presence is useful, not a promise.

Available, busy and away are self-set Moot statuses, separate from Discord DND. Speaking indicators use Discord’s available live signals and permission flow. Voice presence comes from accessible mapped rooms; a character’s map position is not proof of an audio connection.

For people who like a terminal

Ctrl/Cmd+K opens Moot’s command palette. In Discord, /moot run executes commands with ephemeral interaction feedback rather than a normal persistent chat message. The command palette does not keep its history after you close it.

Go moves your character. Join asks to change your own voice channel.

For server editors

Members with Manage Server or Manage Channels can use Build. Search and preview furniture, ground and portals; Set arms placement. Edit, copy and remove the placed instance separately from its source design.

Draw, resize, move or copy areas and review their overlaps. Link an existing voice channel or deliberately create a new one. A full-world replacement still requires access to its mapped rooms.

Library’s review tools let authorized editors approve, reject and remove submissions or disable member submissions. Members manage their own designs. Saving uses revision checks to protect against overwriting someone else’s newer edit.

The shared catalog

Public creation pages and, later, sign-in and a server dashboard. Both frontends would use one catalog API.

Publishing a creation will be an explicit separate choice. Applying a public version would create a local server record with source credit; it will not grant access to that server or change Discord permissions.

Performance and access

Graphics settings offer Cinematic, Balanced and Efficient options, with adjustable depth of field. The compatibility map supports devices without WebGL2. Discord device behavior, public mobile support and load limits still need broader validation.
